Midsummer greetings!
On Saturday we celebrated Sct. Hans evening – a celebration of light because it is the longest day of the year.
In our family we have strong traditions, with floral wreaths and fire in the garden. usually we also have lots of guests, but this year it was just our little family, because we will have a big party tomorrow where Amalie is a student.
The evening featured:
Champagne
Homemade elderflower juice
Shrimps on freshly baked bread – and with a good Swedish mayonnaise and lemon
New Danish potatoes
Cooked crab claws
strawberries
cherries
peas
After the dinner we went for a nice walk – and the boys and Karla (our new puppy) jumped into the lake. Later in the evening we saw the fire and eventually we went home and ate chocolate and drank red wine in front of the fireplace.
It was a wonderful evening and a good start to the summer, which I hope offers a little better weather. Until now, it has rained a lot so we need sun and heat desperately.
* The beautiful tablecloth on the table was a bedspread we got back from Goa in the winter – and we thought that the colors were beautiful in the bad weather .

This looks so beautiful, tasty and inviting. I love traditions like this one. Experiencing a celebration of Midsummer in the North is one of the things on my wishlist. Thank you for inspiring me with these colourful photos.
Your table is lovely- colorful and delicious looking food, beautiful fresh flowers and a gorgeous tablecloth to tie it all together! Summer Solstice is an overlooked event where I live, but one of my favorite days of the year. Thanks for sharing!
